Dr. Kristin Freeman, MD, is a devoted healthcare professional deeply rooted in Eastern Kentucky. Graduating as valedictorian from Belfry High School in 1998, Dr. Freeman continued her academic journey at the University of Louisville, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2002, followed by a Medical Doctorate in 2006 from the same institution. Her commitment to excellence in medicine is underscored by her membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
After completing her medical education, Dr. Freeman pursued further training, graduating from the East Tennessee State Kingsport Family Medicine Program in 2009. Throughout her career, she has maintained a steadfast focus on rural health, consistently working to provide essential care to underserved communities. Since assuming the role of HomePlace Clinic Medical Director in October 2015, Dr. Freeman has been at the forefront of healthcare delivery in the region, bringing her passion and expertise to address the needs of the often overlooked and forgotten members of society.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Freeman is celebrated for her commitment to family and community. Married for 22 years, she embraces the roles of both mother and foster mother. Her love for animals and the great outdoors reflects a holistic approach to life and mirrors her work passion—providing compassionate care to those who need it most.
